Marketing & Public Relations Assistant | Whatcom Museum | September 2017 – June 2018
Helped promote events going and revitalized our social media presence. Revived our weekly blog and directing more traffic towards it. Researched ways to re-launch our weekly E-Newsletter and make it more user-friendly. Engaged the public about events that were happening while also helping to modernize our social media strategy. Worked with the Bellingham Herald to produce articles for the paper about upcoming events and specials.

Journalist | Yakima Herald-Republic | September 2013 – August 2017
Wrote and photographed weekly news events, previews, and reviews across a wide variety of topics for the Yakima Herald Republic's "Unleashed" section. Engaged readers and informed them of events pertaining to youth across Yakima County. Awarded numerous awards for content. Was a central part of a group that reworked the program and established a stronger social media platform.

Represented nearly 3,500 students from across the Selah School District, grades K-12. Consistently communicating with both students younger than me and teachers and gather their opinions and input. Publicly presented issues pertaining to students in front of the Selah Board of Directors. Prepared monthly newsletters about what's going on at Selah High School.

Helped organize and attended lobbying functions on the state and local level on behalf of the students at Western Washington University. Periodically did tabling for events.

Did a liberal arts coursework emphasizing political science. Did research into the intersection of race and LGBT issues from the perspective of neoliberalism, second-wave feminist writings and African American literature during Post-Reconstruction America.

Working with student union on political activism projects and participated in various clubs and extracurricular activities. Active in the college newspaper. Doing research on ethical ways to manage online comment sections and integrate online readers into the newsmaking process.
